Mechanical and durability properties of ultra-high performance steel FRC made with discarded materials

This study investigates the mechanical and durability properties of 12 ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) mixes manufactured using alternate aggregate sources. Natural gabbro aggregates (GA), steel slag (SSA), recycled (RCA) were employed as coarse aggregates. The volume was limited to 12.5% total UHPC volume. Three types fibers employed: macro hooked-end fibers, micro straight a hybrid combination these two fibers. fractions tested 0% 1%. Properties investigated compressive flexural tensile strengths, electrical resistivity, porosity, rapid chloride permeability. Test results revealed that effect type more pronounced on strength than strength. UHPFRC with micro-fibers or both had noticeable macro-fibers, irrespective type. Moreover, specimens macro-fibers showed highest strength, regardless SSA improved all UHPFRC, whereas RCA noticeably deteriorated resistivity incorporation porosity permeability mixes.
